Package: gtk

Function gtk:window-new

Lambda List

gtk:window-new (wtype)

Arguments

wtype -- a value of the gtk:window-type enumeration

Return Value

The new gtk:window widget.

Details

Creates a new window, which is a toplevel window that can contain other widgets. Nearly always, the type of the window should be :toplevel. If you are implementing something like a popup menu from scratch, which is a bad idea, just use the gtk:menu widget, you might use the :popup type. The :popup type is not for dialogs, though in some other toolkits dialogs are called "popups". In GTK, the :popup type means a popup menu or popup tooltip. On X11, popup windows are not controlled by the window manager.

If you simply want an undecorated window with no window borders, use the gtk:window-decorated function, do not use the :popup type.
